CUNNINGHAM FALLS STATE PARK
Cunningham Falls State Park is located just west of Thurmont, Maryland, and is home to the largest waterfall in Maryland. The State Park boasts a large, man-made lake spanning 43 acres where visitors can swim. You can also hike, fish, canoe, camp, or visit the Catoctin Iron Furnace. For more information, click here.
CATOCTIN WILDLIFE PRESERVE
The Catoctin Wildlife Preserve is a 50-acre park located off Route 15. The preserve is home to an amazing assortment of wildlife including zebras, jaguars, bears, alligators, tortoises, macaws, monkeys, and more. UTICA COVERED BRIDGE & PARK
The Utica Mills Covered Bridge spans Fishing Creek and is located off Old Frederick Road. The original bridge was constructed around 1850 and was rehabilitated in 1889 after it was damaged by a storm The bridge is a short distance from Utica District Park where visitors can enjoy the many sports fields, playgrounds, walking trails, and picnic areas. CATOCTIN MOUNTAIN PARK
Catoctin Moutain Park offers a variety of different experiences for visitors such as hiking, horseback riding, fishing, and camping. There are many scenic overlooks to enjoy including Chimney Rock, Hog Rock, Thurmont Vista, and Blue Ridge Summit Overlook. For more information, click here.
FREDERICK WATERSHED CWMA
The Frederick City Watershed Cooperative Wildlife Management Area (CWMA) is a hidden gem located off Mountaindale Road a short distance from Route 15. The CWMA contains more than 7,000 acres of forest lust with wildlife. Visitors can hike, bike, or trout fish from Fishing Creek. For more information, click here.
SPRINGFIELD MANOR
Directly off Route 15 at the base of the Catoctin Mountains, Springfield Manor is a beautiful stop. The 130-acre estate has tasting rooms for its winery, distillery, and brewery with an outdoor patio and small plate food menu.
